Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker, consultant, columnist syndicated to a speaker writer, author and television show host. The Corcoran Group is a New York City-based real-estate brokerage. In 2001, it was transferred to NRT at $66 million. Corcoran resigned from the company shortly thereafter. Corcoran is one of ABC’s first Shark Tank investors. To date she has appeared in every season of Shark Tank. By February 2020, she had closed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 in Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class living in Edgewater, New Jersey. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover from one job to another throughout Corcoran’s childhood. Her family sometimes depended on free food delivery from a nearby grocery store. Corcoran says that her father was a drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and disrespect. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and was later told that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary school in her neighborhood and began high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran dropped several classes during her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was a D student.
